| Farewell IL-18 – a homage to a great airliner – is the title of the newest DVD boxset, which has been released in August 2011. |
| Four DVDs of an unforgettable weekend in Moldova in September 2010 document an extraordinary event featuring the Ilyushin 18 on its final international passenger charter flight. Every flight is captured in detail, the impressive and unique sound of four Ivchenko propellers, extensive ground footage, the cabin, the cockpit, the propellers and most important of all, passengers from nine countries and a great crew. |
| We accompany the crew and the passengers from Chisinau, Moldova to Kiev-Zhuliani in the Ukraine, from there we return to Moldova, to make an intermediate stop at the military airbase Marculesti and finally we return back to Chisinau paying our respect to the airport and the country on the national „Day of Civil Aviation“ with a Fly-By and an impressive „Gear-In“ low pass before landing. |
| There are no special effects, no music, no text, no comments, no scene cuts, just IL-18 viewing pleasure pure ! |

| Cockpit view from Tandem Aero's Ilushin Il-18D, registered as ER-ICB. The flight operated from Kiev Zhulyany (IEV/UKKK), Ukraine, to Marculest Air Base (LUBM), Moldova, as flight number TDM1411. The start-up sequence begins with Engine #2, followed by #3 and #1. This was the second of three flights that day, and on the first flight engine #2 had start-up problems, hence the concerned flight engineer when the RPM indicator did not move in the first moments of the video. Taxi is guided by a Follow-me car from Zhulyany Airport to the threshold of Rwy 26, showing off a great sound from the Ivchenko AI-20M turboprops. The crew requested a take-off from the intersection of the Taxiway, but the controller did not understand their request. Take-off clearance is given is slack english. You can hear the speed callouts from the crew followed by 'rotate' and 'gear up'. Note that the captain waggled the wings right after trimming the nose down to celebrate the probably last ever Il-18 movement at IEV. Here is an outside view of this take-off: | |

This optical illusion only appeared when filming with my Nikon D90 SLR, the pocket camera had no such effect. The Ivchenko AI-20M turboprop engines left hughe smoke trails, reflecting the typical Cold War design of the 1960s. | |
