Verwendungszweck wahlweise als
1. Sturzkampfbomber mit Bombe (herausschwenkbar),
2. Schlachtflieger mit 3,7 cm Kanonen. |
Ständer: Arm in Basisplatte, beweglicher Oberarm in Zapfenloch eindrücken (nicht kleben). |

Directions for Assembly |
The finely formed plastic parts are assembled as indicated in the accompanying illustration using FALLER’s PC 505 (formerly known as Plasticol 505) cement, which comes in the tube with the demountable pin-hole applicator nozzle. |
Transfers: Location of crosses is indicated. Squadron und echelon insignia go beside cockpit and on motor. |
Painting: Underside of fuselage and wings generally sky-blue for camouflage against sky. Prop hub, pilot’s helmet and muzzle of machine gun should be red. Inferior of cockpit dark gray or black, likewise small parts like machine gun and landing gear parts. |
Prop mounting: Instead of the red bearing, the FALLER electric motor 1001 E (3 to 6 V AC) can be installed. Prop blades should be twisted a bit to the right, so they will revolve when
blown at. |
Purposes:
a) dive-bomber with bomb which swings out,
b) figther plane with 37 mm guns. |
Stand: Insert arm in base plate, snap movable upper arm in hole in lower part. Don’t cement! |
History and characteristics of the Ju 87:
By 1939 the German Luftwaffe had a completely new weapon at its disposal in the Ju 87
dive-bomber. The STUKA was at the beginning of the war one of the most striking plane
types and contributed much to the early successes of German arms. Its special task was to attack localized objectives such as: bridges, pillboxes, railroad installations, ships etc. The
1000-lb.-bomb hanging under the fuselage was swung out of the propeller wash and released about 1600 ft. ahead of the target. Great accuracy was achieved by flying directly at the target. |
The dive approach was executed at speeds up to 370 mph, which could be quickly reduced by braking with the landing flaps. The incorporation of a siren heightened the demoralizing psychological effect. |
Because of its low speed on level flights the Ju 87 was very vulnerable to continually improved pursuit planes. Therefore toword the end of the war it was used chiefly as a fighter plane in the world-wide struggle. The famous air colonel Rudel made one of the most brilliant records with this type plane, especially against tanks. |
The chief characteristic of this type plane is the sturdy fuselage and wing construction, with sloping wing lines, and also the streamlined housing of the landing gear. These planes were manufactured in the well-known Junkers plant of Dessau. |
